Welcome to the dental practice of Dr Fritz Claassen, where the Art and Science of dentistry is provided with a Passion. I believe that dental wellness is more than just the confidence that beautiful smiles create; it is also about having strong teeth and healthy gums. It’s about prolonging the simple joy of eating delicious things! Our mission is to help our patients accomplish these goals in a compassionate and efficient way.
We care for our patients in a safe environment while offering them comprehensive dental care. We also understand that many patients experience anxiety about dental treatment, so we have created a calm environment and a scheduling system that never keeps you waiting long. By using the latest techniques, quality materials and affording patients the time they deserve, we strive to give our patients the best dental care possible.
Dr Fritz Claassen-BChD, PDD(Perio), PDD(Prostho)
After completing community service in 2003, Dr Claassen entered private practice and in 2004 joined Dentists@Health in Uitenhage. In 2006 he relocated to the Dentists@Health practice in Summerstrand, Port Elizabeth, where he practiced until late 2016. In November 2016 he joined the team at Helderberg Dental Practice in Somerset West.
Dr Claassen’s field of interest includes Cosmetic Dentistry, Implantology, Endodontics and Periodontics. Constantly on the journey of continuous education, he has attended numerous national and international post-graduate courses, including two post-graduate diplomas with the University of Pretoria and the complete series of implantology courses with the Implant and Aesthetic Academy between March 2005 and August 2008. He has presented on various topics locally and internationally, and has also recently been part of the team of trainers at the internationally renowned Implant and Aesthetic Academy in Cape Town. He is also a member of the Nexus Education Platform which aims to teach and improve the skillset of newly qualified dentists.
Helen Erasmus, Dental Hygienist
Helen completed her Diploma in Oral Hygiene at the University of Stellenbosch in 1984, after which she joined a specialist orthodontic practice in Somerset West. After 16 years, she briefly stayed in Bonn, Germany, and upon her return joined the Helderberg Dental Practice in 2007. She is a member of OHASA and regularly attends courses to stay abreast of the latest techniques and technologies. In 2013, she completed her certification for expanded functions in Oral Hygiene at UWC. She enjoys the full spectrum of Oral Hygiene and her greatest reward in when a patient understands their own mouth and how to take good care of it. She enjoys mountain biking and running, especially trial running in the beautiful surrounding mountains.
Riana Botha , Office Manager
Riana has been part of the Helderberg Dental Practice team since 2002. As practice manager, she ensures that our practice runs smoothly and efficiently. Riana takes great pleasure in helping our patients with all the administrative work needed to make our patients' experience as hassle-free as possible, and she's always willing to assist our patients with any administrative needs. She enjoys horse-riding and the outdoor life.
